2 You can't ~~handle/use~~/function use / operate a touchscreen phone with gloves on, as your fingers don't grip, and the screen doesn't detect [a / your] finger.

Looking back, I don't think I was ever as ~~selffish~~ selfish and lazy as in those days/so ~~selffish~~ selfish and lazy as... Both OK. Some experts on style insist on so (not as) after a negative (don't think). selffish (self-fish) would probably be a kind of fish. I don't think that's what you had in mind. (Cf. shellfish).

How would you say it?

I think I would say it the way I wrote it. You don't absolutely have to have through, but I'm uncomfortable with hold out the night. My brain starts confusing this with another meaning of hold out: hold out one's hand. The beggar was holding out his hand in expectation of getting money from a stranger. ... hold out (extend) your hand >... hold out (extend) the night ???

Actually I think an until phrase would be even better than what I gave you above.

Coffee will help you hold out until morning.

In any case, you can't leave make in there. Coffee doesn't make / force you to do anything; it helps / lets you do something. If you want the verb make in there, you'll have to do the sentence differently:

Coffee [should / will] make it easier for you to hold out until morning.

Both are good. Personally, I use "to last a week". I don't often use the expression "hold out".
