Hitmaker

Other FBI files revealed that how the 'Thriller' hitmaker was interrogated when he was accused of making obscene phone call to a British schoolboy.
The boy, who was 13 years old at the time, said the star told him he was fondling himself. (ANI)

Could you please explain to me what "hitmaker" means in this context?

Also, I wonder whom the "himself" referred to here. The 13 year old boy or the person who called him. I mean I want to know if he(the other person) said "I like myself very much", or "I like you(the 13 year boy very much".

Top answer

The star of Thriller is called a hitmaker because he is responsible for its being a hit. "Fondling himself" could be described as actively pleasuring himself sexually. BTW, the use of "that" in your citatation would be ungrammatical in the US.
