No, a knight getting hitting the central square e4 from c3

It doesn't affect the meaning, I was just wondering why the word hit was used. It occurred to me that the context might be the **** reaching row 8 and getting promoted.

It usually means 'arrive at an important square'.
It also suggests that it is a strong move.

He means something like controlling(not the actual movement-the night is still on g4), but am not sure of the exact meaning

It sounds like it means 'can access'. Can 'control' is a posslibility.

Hi

In some games, Black can move the King's Knight: f6, g4. It is then in a powerful position

It controls six squares. If White has pawns on e3, f2 or h2, then the Knight threatens them
