Below is my review for the movie "Hitch". Enjoy reading it and please comment on any grammar mistake you find. I will really appreciate that. You don't have to point out every single one, just point out one or two will be more than enough and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks.
Winter break finally commenced. This is gonna be a long break. I have a few plans, and I will accomplish them all. I recently read some articles on personal growth on Steve Pavlina’s blog. Needless to say, these articles have given me a lot of motivation, they are really inspiring. Basically, in the article he advises people to focus their time and effort to work on some certain projects rather than to dilute their effort to multiple ones. This is, indeed, very true. So I decided to write a review for my favorite romantic comedy movie “Hitch.” I consider this is a chance for me to improve my skill, to challenge myself in a different area but still related to my goals. I‘d love to put myself out of my comfort zone and see how I will perform. I also do this out of my sheer love for the movie, for the laughter I got out of it, and for the awesomeness of Mr. Will Smith, for all the single guys out there and also for myself. So here it is:
“Basic Principles - no matter what, no matter when, no matter who... any man has a chance to sweep any woman off her feet; he just needs the right broom.” This quote by Alex “Hitch” Hitchens appears in the beginning of the movie. Will Smith plays as a professional date doctor who creates “opportunities” for men who would otherwise go unnoticed to get the women of their hearts’ attention. With a plethora of clever tricks under his sleeves, Hitch can easily hook up one of his clients with his dream woman. The story unfolds and reveals more about Hitch’s past life and how he came about doing his job as a professional “consultant.” Whenever asked about his job title, Hitch smiles and says: “I am a consultant.” Business seems to go pretty well for him, Hitch is making good money, the men love him and the women never find out about him. Hitch remains anonymous to keep himself from troubles.
The movie focuses on Hitch's particular case with Albert Brennaman (played by Kevin James). Albert Brennaman is a paradigm of losers: he is fat and short with receding hair line and as clumsy as a heavy bear but he falls in love with one of the most gorgeous babes of New York City Allegra Cole (played by Amber Valletta). Knowing this is one hell of a long shot; Hitch determines to set out on quest to help poor Albert achieve his goal. During the progress, Hitch also found the love of his life, a smart, sexy but cynical journalist Sara Melas who writes for the Standard’s gossip column.
The movie is set in New York City, a bustling city with many places that are ideal for dates. The plot itself has no twists and turns and is fairly predictable. However the stellar acting is more than make up for the plot. It’s interesting to see how the story plays out, even when the result is not so surprising. Hitch’s narration exudes enthusiasm and a sense of confidence and bad-assness. Albert Brennaman’s awkwardness is also quite amusing. The humorous focus on contrasting confidence of Hitch and his clients is intended not so much to get the audiences to laugh at them poor souls but rather to exalt Hitch’s professionalism. Brennaman is also phenomenal in following Hitch’s suggestions but he adds in there his personality.
However, the movie also hints a hidden message. It’s not that Hitch somehow helps our not-so-successful Brennaman, Brennaman follows Hitch’s advice but he stays true to himself, and that’s what earns him the love of Miss Allegra. It’s not Hitch’s professionalism that draws him and Sara together; it is fate that connects the missing links.
“Hitch” left me with a smile of my face when the closing credits started to scroll up the screen. Don’t we love to have one Hitch in our life to help us out in relationship matters? Perhaps the movie has hit the jackpot, delivering a message to all the guys just like Albert Brennaman or like any guys that appears in “Hitch”: We all have our chances gentlemen, so follow our hearts and summon the courage to take action. Until next time, “Try harder, stupid.”
Here are some memorable quotes:
Hitch: Life is not the amount of breaths you take, it's the moments that take your breath away.
Hitch: One dance, one look, one kiss, that's all we get, Albert. Just... one shot, to make the difference between happily ever after, and oh? he's just some guy I went to some thing with once.
Hitch: Lean in, place your hand on the small of her back, say it in her ear like a secret. But watch your hand placement, too high says, 'I just wanna be friends,' too low says, 'I just wanna grab some ass.' Albert: [making holding gestures at different levels] Okay... Friends. Ass. Me.
Max: There is more to life than to watch other people live it.

you just have a few little errors. Here is a short passage that seems to have more than its fair share of little problems. Will Smith plays as a professional date doctor who creates “opportunities” for men who would otherwise go unnoticed to get the women of their hearts’ attention.
