Hit up

Could you tell me whether or not you use the phrase hit up in the meaning of go to as in "Do you want to hit up the karaoke place?" in conversations? Thanks in advance!

" I would not understand what that meant. "hit" alone is sometimes used to mean roughly "go to" or "reach", but I have never heard of "hit up".
