I'v never heard "hit the mountain" but I suppose that for mountain climbers it's possible. Most common would be "hit the road" meaning to begin a journey, "hit the books" meaning to study, "hit the hay" meaning go to bed. No doubt there are many others.

Hi,

I rhink you mean eg 'hit the bar on Main Street', meaning go to that place unexpectedly and kind of dramatically. You can 'hit' lots of places in this way. Almot anywhere, really.

There are lots of ways to use 'hit' in slang.
