Hit a pillow

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/features/energy-slumps-perk-up-your-afternoons-2128735.html
Research shows that the most common time for energy slumps is 2.16pm. This is when many people hit a brick wall – and wish they could hit a pillow.

What does "hit a pillow" mean?

Top answer

Hit a brick wall means to face an insuperable problem and I believe hit a pillow means to sleep like a top or maybe when you just want your head to touch a pillow. 16pm is the time when you want to sleep but you have to work harder instead. I hope I'm not wrong.

So the sentence probably meant this;

2.16pm is the time when you want to sleep but you have to work harder instead. I hope I'm not wrong.

Hit a pillow = take a nap.
In American English we say "Hit the hay." (Go to bed for the night.)
