History writing: "absolute" words

http://www.amazon.com/Information-Literate-Historian-Research-History-Students/dp/0195176510 says on page 209:

Do not make universal generalizations with words such as "all" or "every." Do not use such words as "many," "most," and "some."

Many history writing guides warn against "absolutes."

Is it OK to say something like "No doubt, nested in the decision was a move to erase his greatest failure." ?
"No doubt" sounds like an absolute, but it's describing a strong opinion.

Thanks.

This was the only part from the book. (The rest of the post was my writing/question.)
