The Imperial City of Hue

Hue Imperial City belongs to the Complex of Hue Monuments. Up to now, this place has been regconized as a wolrd cultural heritage with unique architectural and historical values. Under the Nguyen Dynasty - the last feudal dynasty of Vietnam, Hue Imperial City was the place where the living and activities of kings and royal courts took place.

During the reign of King Gia Long, the peaceful land of Hue was chosen to build the capital complex in 1803. After nearly thirty years, the entire construction of the new citadel was officially completed. Located right by the Huong river?, the Imperial City has a charming beauty, in harmony with the beauty of nature.

Hue Imperial City was built with two main parts, including The Imperial City and The Purple Forbidden City. The Purple Forbidden City is a separate area for the king and the king's family. Inside each area, there are many different unique buildings and architectures. When coming here, visitors can choose to visit places from?? Ngo Mon Gate to the Forbidden City?.

Ngo Mon Gate is a massive and monumental construction with elaborate, sophisticated, and solid patterns. Ngo Mon is not only the entrance gate but also the face representing ??Hue Imperial City so it was designed with many layers with a surrounding moat system.

Can Chanh Palace is located directly with Thai Hoa Palace to the north-south, this place is for the king to hold the court. Can Chanh Palace is considered the largest and most beautiful wooden structure in the entire The Purple Forbidden City. The columns are made of ironwood, the upper frame is elaborately carved.


Thai Binh Lau?? located inside the Purple Forbidden City of Hue Imperial City, this place will be used for the king to rest in his spare time, read, write or write poetry to relax, a wonderful scene for the kings love nature. Thai Binh Lau was built in 1919 by King Khai Dinh and was completed in 1921.

Among many palaces in the Imperial City of Hue, ??Dien Tho? Palace? is considered as a palace architecture system of the largest scale in Hue remaining to this day, still valid.
