Vocabulary

Historically

Hi.
What do the two 'Historically' mean in:

Xwméthkwyiem and Tsleil-Waututh historically spoke a language dialect of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halqemeylemlanguage, whereas S?wxwú7mesh http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%E1%B8%B5wxw%C3%BA7mesh_language was separate but related. Their language was more closely connected to their http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shishalh neighbors at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sechelt,_British_Columbia. Historically the area of where Vancouver is now was all resource gathering places for food or materials.

?Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Historically the area of where Vancouver is now was all resource gathering places for food or materials.

may the second one be translated as throughout history?

No.For a long time, the Vancouver area has been developing into a huge, modern city, with no resource gathering unless you count going to the local super market.

So what about 'In the past'?

Hi,

'Throughout history' suggests 'up to the present'.
