His or Her usage

I get confused at this lots of time.

Suppose my friend A is male.

So to refer to A's mom it should be: his mom or her mom.

The pronouns are: he (male), she (female) and it (neuter).

The forms are: object (him, her, it); possessive (his, hers, its.)

So if Bob has a mother, she is Bob's mother.  
We can use the possessive pronoun (male) for "Bob's".
So if Bob has a mother, she is his mother.
