Vocabulary

his / her / ?

If we're talking about a man, we say 'his' example: his picture. If we're talking about a woman, we say 'her' example: her picture. Now if we're talking about a thing, what we have to say? let's say we're talking about a laptop's screen. This is my HP laptop, change his screen please. We must replace 'His' with what? Hope my question is clear.. Thank you in advance!

'He' for a male ( even animal )
'She' for a Female ( either human or animal )
'It' for a thing

Please don't make the common mistake of writing "it's" for the neutral possessive. the possessive, as Clive has said, is "its." "It's" is a contraction for "it is." This is a mistake very often made by native speakers!

That's true for subjects, but the question was about possessive -- his, her/hers, its.

His book -- the book is his.
Her book -- the book is hers.

The cover of this book is torn. Its cover is torn.
