His grandfather is really finicky

Hi

Some days I heard someone saying that his grandfather is really finicky he always keep taking medications when he is absolutely fine. He just takes all those pills to be on the safe side!

I don't understand the meaning of "finicky" in this context and I think it doesn't fit here. Something close to 'superstitious' would fit better in my view. Please guide me.

You're right.'Finicky' is not correct here.

Perhaps

'he's a hypochondriac'?

'He's eccentric'?

'He's over-careful'?
