1. My mom was proud of "his" having been a doctor.

2. My mom was proud of "him" having been a doctor.

I am confused

Are you more than 12 years old? Then use 'mother', not 'mom'.

Traditionally, #1 is correct, formal grammar, but many grammarians have now given up and accept #2
