.,.,can anyone tell me the differnce between.,.,"it" and "so" in these expressions.,.,.,

I do not think "so"
i forget "it".,.,

These are such common expressions, that they are almost idioms.

I don't think so is a very common negative response to a question. It is less abrupt than a simple "No."
A: Does it work?
B: No, I don't think so.
