Some deep sholarly English is not to be expected...

(1) shot could be replaced with thrown
a. This ball could be shot fifty feet high into the sky.
b. This ball could be shot fifty feet high up.
c. This ball could be shot high up fifty feet.

I'd like to help you, but I don't understand what is happening in the sentences. How does one shoot a ball? Anyway, that is not your question. I'll respond to your question, disregarding that little problem. I don't know about the X or O, either. I'll use Y for Yes, good, and N for no, not good.
