High success

Hello,
Can you please help me with two questions:
1) Is it necessary to put 'number' here? Would the sentence be correct if it went like this:
According to our study, the success of chest tube placements in intended positions is higher...
Can 'success' be 'higher than sth'?
2) Is the rest of the sentence OK?

According to our study, the number of successful placements of chest tube in intended position was significantly higher in TWG group and in each subgroup as well, than in CS group (79% in TWG technique vs. 30% in CS technique, Fisher's exact test, p<0,001).
Thank you
