He unwraps the sandwich and takes a bite of it, hiding his disgust.

1: Is the sentence constructed okay?

2: Is it understood that he thinks the sandwich either looks or tastes disgusting?

3: "Disgust" is a strong word, if I wanted a word that was slightly milder what could it be?
