hide my past Vs hide from my past

hi all,

I'm a little confused with wheter i should use "hide from my past" or just "hide my past" when referring to my childhood. For me, it sounds the same but i'd like to get some thoughts on that matter.

They are not quite the same, Louis. 'Hide from my past' is something you will probably say when you want to protect yourself from your own past, like when you try to forget something that you would rather not remember, because it is destructive to your well-being. 'Hide my past' is how you would probably say it when you want to hide your past from others, so that they do not know it.
