Hide and cover ( Confused words)

1) Run for cover! it is dangerous.

2) Run for hidding! it is dangerous.

Which one is the idiomatic words , " run for cover or run for hidding"?

I have never heard #2. There is a verb - to hide. Here is an example: He is in his hiding place.
