Hi,

I wouldn't use the present simple.

Why not the present perfect, either simple or continuous, especially if the guy tells that to his friend short after finding out the truth ?

You've hidden ...
You've been hiding ...

I'd use the past tense. If I use present, for me that means that person do it generally. If I use present continuous, this means that you are doing it now. So, for me, may be like this: How dare you!!You hid the secret from me.

Hey there, actually I think it is more properly to say ( you have been hiding the secret from me) by using the present perfect in this example. because it was an on going action till his discovering of the secret interrupted it. and we know that in like these examples it is better to use the past perfect. But, otherwise, it is also right to use the past simple tense.
