hi,can someone help ?

hey friend,

I have a friend who owns a restaurant asked for my help to write him a sentence.He would like to have their customer to pay bills by not using lots of coins,because some of his customers would pay bills with more than 50 5pence or 1pence on a single bill.

"Bills are restricted to payment policy as 1 pence and 5 pence
should not be included over an amount of 20 in a transaction,
thank you"

I would like to have your kind grammar check on this sentence ,thank you!

I am not sure how legal it's to tell customers how they should pay their checks/taps/bills in Europe but in the US, if loose change is all a customer has, you have no options but to accept it. There is some confusion in the sentence in question. Do you mean that if the bill is under 20 pounds he can pay in lots of pence?

How about "Please do not use more than twenty coins in a single transaction" (or "... in paying your bill.")

(I also think that in the U.S., you can't legally refuse any form of "legal tender." Of course you can make a request or suggestion. I don't know if its different in Britain.)

Thanks for your response,I neither have idea on this legal issue but he just does not want to be annoyed by counting 1 and 5 pence coins all the time given by naughty customer.I like you sentence but it does not clarify the use of 20 ,50 pence or even 1 pound are actually allowable.In the UK,coins ranging from 1 pence to 2 pounds

Hi mate,

I don't think this sentence is suitable as in Britain coins are ranging from 1 pence to 2 pounds,so my friend is only annoyed by
some of his customers paying entire 1 or 5 pence on the bills.

However my friend could accept the use of 1or 5 pence are not more than 20 coins on a single bill.

The revamped sentence is as clear as a puddle of mud in my opinion. Why do you have to specify 1 and 5 pence denomination and limit the allowance under 20 coins.

I believe this is what you want to say: "No more than 20 1p and/or 5p coins will be accepted in a single transaction."

Please eliminate "Bills are restricted to payment policy" - it's quite unclear. So is "should not be used entirely in an exceeding amount of 20 coins."

I think this is enough:

"No more than 20 1p and/or 5p coins will be accepted in a single transaction."

If you want to add something, you could say:

PAYMENT POLICY: No more than 20 1p and/or 5p coins will be accepted in a single transaction. Thank you for your cooperation.
