Topic: It is said that the best way to solve the world's environmental problems is to increase the price of fuel. To what extent do you agree or disagree.

Many people claim that the resolution of environmental issues will be achieved most effectively through increasing the price of fuel. Although I agree that this is an useful solution, I do not believe that this is the best option.

On the one hand, I would argue that raising the price of fuel can result in favorable outcomes. This is simply due to the fact that fossil fuels such as coal and oil are the world's most source of energy, which means companies will have to use these resources more responsibly and reduce their dependence on fossil fuels when their prices are high. Furthermore, this approach will also help reduce the amount of carbon footprint all over the world as consumption of fuels is the main factor in increasing the emission of greenhouse gases and then global warming.

On the other hand, it seems to me that there are several reasons why this solution cannot be the best approach. One reason is protection of the environment does not merely depend on fuel, but on many other factors including reducing contamination of land, air, water and preserving the diversity of animals and plants. For example, if forest destruction increases at an alarming rate then environmental degradation will be more serious even when fuel's price is high. Another reason is that this solution cannot have lasting and fundamental effects on the world environment simply because the government certainly cannot keep increasing the price for ever.

In conclusion, although increasing the price of fossil fuels is beneficial to some extent I would strongly argue that this is not the only and the best choice.
