Hi there, could someone to proofread this small text for me?

In prehistoric times America was inhabited by Siberians

Most geneticists agree that the ancestors of Native Americans came from Siberia; they crossed the Bering Strait and came over to America about 18-26 thousand years ago. DNA tests confirmed that there is "the Siberian trail" in Americans’ genealogy, but there wasn’t fossil evidence of this theory up to the present time.

Now scientists succeeded to get the fossil evidence as well. The divers found almost perfectly preserved skeleton of a girl under water in a cave on the Yucatan peninsula. Crime anthropologist James Chatters analyzed the mitochondrial DNA from the girl’s wisdom tooth. The analysis showed that the girl lived about 12 thousand years ago. Her skull is more narrow and angular than the skulls of modern Indians, her face is smaller and its features are very protruded. Her DNA indicates that, at least, the maternal side of her ancestors came from Siberia.

Now scientists are hoping to identify the girl’s ancestors on the paternal line and explore the entire skeleton to understand what she ate, how healthy she was and so on. However, they have to get her from the underwater cave to do this.

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Most geneticists (perhaps you could use the more specific term: Paleoanthropologist) agree that the ancestors of Native Americans came from Siberia; they crossed the Bering Strait and came over to America about 18-26 thousand years ago. (when there was an ice bridge connecting the continents?) DNA tests confirmed that there is "the Siberian trail" in Native Americans’ genealog

Thank you! You're right, I guess, the Beringia would be more accurate term, because back then it wasn't a strait at all. I aslo doubted about 'protruded features', is it sounds fine or should I call it 'projecting'?

Mona Sabbat 'protruded features',
That's OK if you are more specific - eg protruding jaw, brow ridge, cheek bones...

If all that is left of her is her skeleton, your wording does not make sense. It would be better as: However, they have to recover, retrieve or remove (choose one of the underlined words) her remains, bones or

It's a translation, so I try to be as close to the author's words as possible, but you're right, it is really sounds better.
