The responsibility for preventing and reducing global environmental damage lies with politicians and there is a little that individuals can do about the problem. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

We as humans have been damaging the environment in a catastrophic way. While some argue it is politician that have responsibility to deter and mitigate this damage, I completely disagree that individuals can make a little contribution to solving this problem.

Politicians play a prominent role in protecting environment. First of all, there must be regulations agreed by all governments to prevent factories from discharging chemical waste which results in environmental degradation. One solution would be to require these factories to install proper waste management and impose stricter punishments on those that fail to follow safe waste management practices. Furthermore, international government and environmental organizations should work collaboratively to tackle this problem. Politicians can throw its weight behind a campaign to encourage people to engage in these programs such as community planting.

On the other hand, ordinary people can assist in efforts to alleviate environmental problems through simple actions. First, every individual can help by reducing our reliance on fossil fuels through changes in transportation. People can choose to commute by public transport or buying an electric car instead of fossil fuel power one. Secondly, changes in consumption are also contributing to the problem. People can make more wise shopping choices such as purchasing energy-efficient home appliances and choosing products with less packaging as a way to save energy. If everyone does not take action to environmental protection, regardless of government regulations, the problem will never be successful alleviate.

In conclusion, both politicians and individuals need to make every possible effort in the war against environmental damage. While the government has responsibility to adopt environmentally friendly policies, there is a great deal individuals can do to combat this issue.
