Overall, there was an increase in the total amount of people who migrated to Australia in the three categories examined, while a significant decline was seen in the British. In addition, despite it took up the lowest point in 1976, Asian had the highest figure in the last year.
The total percentage of immigration people in Australia stared at around 23%. The figure is witnessed a slight decrease by 3% in 2001, before ending the period at one-fourth of the population. The share of people from different regions dropped from about 10% at the beginning of the period to 7% in 1986, followed by a dramatic increase to 13% 25 years later.
In 1976, approximately 15% of the British came to Australia, with a subsequent decrease and a final decline in the range from 10% to 5% from 1986 to 2011. Opposite changes can be seen in the figure for Asia people, growing 5% approximately in first 20 years of the period. From 1996 onwards, it fluctuated moderately and then reaching a peak of 15% in the final year.
