In recent years, many couples decide to start a family later in life. There are a number of reasons for this trend, which is having a significant impact on both and on the community.

There are two important reasons why people want to delay parenthood. Firstly, rather than embarking on parenthood they want to pursue their dream jobs and climb the career ladder. Because having children would take their much time to raise them and deter parents from developing their careers. If they had children, they would be distracted from work so promotion prospects could be negatively affected. Another reason may be parents want to make more money to give their children a stable upbringing. As young couple having children early can face struggle financially as raising a child cost much money. Consequently, having children when having a stable budget would improve their children living standards.

However, this tendency could have negative consequences in both family life and society. In term of family life, this would have an adverse impact on health problems. For example, women having pregnant after 35 years of age often carry more potential health risks and the baby might be at greater risk of Down’s syndrome. Another factor is older parents would have difficulty in raising and communicating with their children due to the generation gap. As a result, this has led to higher rates of mental illness in children born by older parents. From the perspective of society, this trend could cause an aging population, which becomes a burden on the developing economy.

In conclusion, there are a number of reasons why more and more people prefer giving birth later in life. As a result, there could be negative influences on individual families and society at large.
