A flash of an idea

I was really shocked when I could not continue with my research on the chosen topic. I did not know what to do and felt a bit disappointed. One morning I just surfed the Internet to relax myself. Accidentally, I heard a story for children, which was very interesting. I thought: “Is it okay if we use such a material to teach English intonation for primary pupils?” I spent the whole morning to develop the idea. After discussing a bit with my roommate, I seemed to have a clear arrangement of ideas. One remaining problem was how to conduct a survey within primary pupils. I thought more on it and asked for some ideas from my peers. Then, I found one way, but it still needed taking in consideration, as the survey here could just suffice the first step of this teaching approach. At last, I decided to carry out this research and conduct the survey in such a way.

Although I thought of the limitations of the study and the obstacles I might face, I tried to ignore them, keeping my idea on. I presented my idea to my supervisor in the following day. He showed me many problems, nearly all of which I had thought of. Once again, I tried to ignore them to keep going on. Actually, I did not know why I decided on that way. Till now I haven’t known I am hungry for success or I am really tempted by the idea. I am on my chosen way, but I sometimes do not know I am right or wrong.

To conduct the survey, I had to find a way to ask for a number of primary pupils as the population of my study. I met difficulties because I have no one to introduce me to a primary school. Moreover, I know little about primary schools in while the information about this school level in the Internet is not as much as others. Honestly, I was in luck when I found a website of Cat Linh primary school and got some useful information. I immediately decided to choose it as my target school. After preparing some essential things, I phoned Mr. Hop, the principal of Cat Linh primary school and asked for help. I went to the school on the next morning and presented my idea. Luckily, he agreed to help and asked me to contact Mrs. Ha to arrange a meeting with her class. Mrs. Ha was also enthusiastic, which inspired me a bit.

Everything sounds smooth, but my study can hardly be successful, as there are still a lot of problems around it. However, I do not care much about this fact. I do not know why. Maybe, since I decided to keep the research on, I just wanted to test myself if I was a person that did not dare to do anything or not. I must admit that I am a very plain person, I am always afraid to commit a risk or a challenge. Nevertheless, in this situation, I have been consistent with my decision. I dared to call a principal for help, dared to meet and talk with him, and dared to stand in front of a big group of children and teach them as a real teacher. Is it my success to some extent? I am now not sure if I exactly understand myself. There is only one thing I am sure about, that is, I cannot give up in the middle way though I on and off feel under pressure and get stuck. I do hope that I will find out myself at the end of this way.
