Essay & Composition Writing

Hi, I've an essay and I appreciate having you correct this for me. Thanks.

International tourism has brought enormous benefit to many places. At the same time, there is concern about its impacts on local inhabitants and the environment.

Do the disadvantages of international tourism outweigh the advantages?

Coming from many parts of the world, foreign tourists bring different and significant benefits to the local people and places. Some people express their worry about the negative effects tourism has on the residents and nature. However, I disagree with the view as I think it is the benefit that we should embrace.

On the one hand, too much a flow of travelers to a country or a city can cause detrimental effects on local inhabitants’ life and the environment they are living in. More people residing in or visiting a place can result in more trash and waste which contaminates the surroundings as some kinds of rubbish can take years to get rid of. Moreover, a growing demand for food and drinks also means local people have to exploit nature to the full and use more harmful chemicals. Lastly, local people may feel that their life is disturbed by the noise of international visitors or tourism trades on the streets, hence a reduction in working and studying capacity.

On the other hand, increases in tourism provide residents with more incomes since they get the chance to sell more products and services. Secondly, talking to foreigners is the fastest way to bring our unique culture to the world, thereby introducing ourselves as a hospitable country that features stunning landscapes, tasty cuisines, and welcoming people. Last but not least, cultural exchange is a two-way process in which tourists learn from us and vice versa; therefore, having travelers in a region opens up many valuable lessons about our tourists and how they see our nation, giving us chances to listen and improve on our tourism services.

In conclusion, although it may seem that tourism has badly affected the local people and the environment, I believe that it brings more good than harm and should continue to be improved.
