Rewards encourage employees

Styles of management in rewarding employees differ from one company to another. Some companies, employees are rewarded for their hard work by certificates. In some companies, members of staff are rewarded by giving them extra money. In my lines below, I will mention the positive and negative aspects of rewarding employees of the second practice.

Rewarding employees by giving them more money is to a large extent is an effective style of management. I will first discuss the positive impacts then I will divert to the next paragraph to the negative impacts in. In some companies, we realize that poor employers who have large family work more seriously and hardly than employees who are single or who were employed by illegal way. Giving a reward of money to the employee may encourage the other employee to work more effectively. For example, when my mother was awarded with money, she now realized that many of her colleagues started competing with her to produce the best work. Besides, this will let the poor employee work harder than before and feel that everyone realized his efforts in work; consequently, he will keep up his hard working. In addition, this will let employees contend together to produce the best of what the can provide. One more thing, this practice will let many people who are seeking for job to join the company, and by this way, work would be done more quickly than before. This practice has it own goods on the person (employees) and on the company and the employer.

This practice also may cause conflicts to a certain extent. Human beings can do mistakes sometimes; the conflicts may rise if the employer awarded an employee who does not deserve. From the health communication course, which I studied, I learned that styles of management differ and in some companies, they go through a ZEUS style, which is when the employee in the top and all people look up to him. Later this may cause the employee who deserves the money to suffer injustice and not produce good work. For instance, an employer who have 4 to 5 companies and he needs to visit each company one in a week. This employee will not reward each employer by the amount he deserves because he did not communicate and observe the employees enough. Besides, if an employee is rewarded this may let his colleagues feel jealous and try to cause harm to him. This practice may be unfair and it may cause employees to contract the enmity of each other.

There are other alternative ways of encouraging employees to work hard. I think a certificate is better the awarding them with money. For instance, my brother he is a creative employee, he was given many certificates for his exceptional contributions. He has to present his certificates because he is elected to participate in Sheikh Hamdan’s prize for creativity. The prize is 25,000Dhs, which is not equal to quarter the award his company wanted to give him instead of certificates. Besides, taking the employees who deserve the award to a journey to one of the countries to learn modern work related issues will be an effective idea. For example, Paris Gallery, one of the most popular shops in the UAE, their employer select the best employees and take them to a trip to Geneva to learn ways of communication between the employee and customer. In addition, another way will be is to elected each month the beat employee and give him a sign or ribbon to wear.

In conclusion, I think rewarding employee is great idea but fairness is important. No matter what was the reward but thanking an employee for his outstanding role in company is enough. I advise all the companies to try one of the ways of rewarding members of staff and realize how rewards encourage employees.
