My objective for doctorate studies in Molecular biology is to prepare myself for the long term goal of pursuing a career of teaching and research. I have nurtured a strong passion to become a scientist and pursue research. In the pursuit of knowledge, I have always adopted a rigorous approach in order to attain an in-depth understanding of the subject at hand. This has amply reflected in my consistently brilliant career, always remained among the top students in the class.
During my masters I gained a keen interest in Plant molecular biology. The recent advancements in this field has offered opportunities to produce more nutritious and better tasting foods, higher crop yields and plants that are naturally protected from disease and insects. My research project in my masters introduced me to various research techniques but I seemed inadequate for enthusiasm for research. So after my masters, I worked for a year as research associate at institute of biotechnology and genetic engineering. It enabled be to further explore various new molecular technologies which can be used to greatly improve crops. The application of these technologies have in some developed counties have shown tremendous improvements in crop production and quality. Therefore, I have decided to further arm myself with the advance knowledge and research in this field. My ultimate goal is to take my research to even higher level and develop crop varieties with better yield, nutritious value and stress resistance. Unfortunately in Pakistan only few centers have appropriate physical facilities and trained manpower to facilitate such research. That is why I want to do my doctorate from abroad particularly from US where significant advancement in this field had immensely improved agriculture. This would help me to develop advance research skills in the field of plant molecular biology and will prepare me to do advance research in my future.
I see research and teaching as ways that I might be able to make my contribution to society. So keeping in view of my keen interests, I hope to do my best if selected for the PhD program. After completing my PhD, I intend to returned to Pakistan and teach at a research-oriented university and also practice different advance lab techniques, conduct research, and instill students with my enthusiasm for research and enable students to understand the subject in a better way. In long term I would carry out productive research to improve Agriculture sector in Pakistan which is the backbone of our economy.
