Title:

Some people think that people should be given the right to use fresh water as they like. Others believe governments should tightly control the use of freshwater. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

My essay:

It is true that some people argue that they should have the freedom to use as much water as they wish, while others hold the idea that governments should restrict water as a finite resource. I agree more with the latter one.

On the one hand, admittedly, many citizens turn to fresh water to safeguard the health of themselves as well as their families. If there is any attempt to limit access to the water, it will make people prone to some life-threatening illnesses such as cholera or eye-related diseases. Furthermore, the right to get access to clean water has been considered a fundamental human right for many centuries. Water plays a vital role in human life as it is not only used to ensure people stay hydrated but also for daily activities like bathing or washing. Given this, if governments limit the use of freshwater, it can be recognized as a kind of human rights violation. Therefore, to some extent, people should be granted the right to consume the amount of water according to their choices.

Nevertheless, I still support the claim that governments should pose some stringent regulations on the use of water. It is clear that pervasive global warming has posed a threat to the rainfall patterns in many regions. The more severe climate change gets, the more scarce water gets. As a result, it can exert a detrimental effect on many people, notably in some poverty-stricken and third world countries like Africa or Central Asia. As a result, it is common sense governments ought to make a decision about where and when the water should be used. By doing so, authorities can ensure the national water distribution for people to meet their needs. Additionally, on account of the booming global population, the demand for water is rising on a regular basis. Like any limited resources on the Earth, it requires governments to shoulder the responsibility of making long–term plans to ensure water delivery for all residents in the future and beyond.

Much as I understand the desire to consume unlimited amounts of water, I am still in favor of the idea that authorities should regulate the use of water for sustainable purposes.
