Students, parents, slaves or even prisoners all have desires to gain happiness no matter what their backgrounds are, and it has been playing an essential role in human life. However, it would be really challenging to define the word "happiness", and there are numerous factors that can affect the way leading to being in that state. This essay will point out some reasons and factors for that.

To begin with, it is obvious that defining the word "happiness" is really hard. The first reason is that it is an abstract notion which can not be seen or touched. That is to say, people can not make a definition about it in the same way with the Earth or mountains or rivers. Second, it does not have a stereotype of happiness that is true for everyone. In other words, each individual feels a sense of well-being in their own ways. For that reason, it can have various things that bring about a sense of satisfaction to some people, but it does not work with others. Therefore, people find it incredibly difficult to give a fixed phrase to that word.

On the way getting access to happiness, people come across a significant number of factors. The first one is the feeling of achieving their goals. To be more specific, all people have their own desires, even such an autistic child has his own dream although it seems ludicrous to others, and the moment when the goals or dreams come true, people are fulfilled. The second is the level of expectation. People can feel happy if they know how to accept themselves. For example, one student has an immediate degree of academic learning, but he knows that fact and he does not set such an unattainable aim for his study. Therefore, when he gets a mark, for instance, that is beyond his expectation, he can feel happy more than ever. People would be happy if they set goals in a reasonable way. These are really important aspects that can affect the way people gain happiness.
