These are two different topics.

Korea has the lowest birth rates in the OECD. Korean women's relatively lower social status is one of the factors that contributed to the low birth rates. However, an increasing number of women are passing the national exams such as the bar exam and the public service exam, growing out of their minority status. Some mean say they are now subject to reverse discrimination. But still, women of today face much more serious discrimination than men do. After college graduation, women face more serious challenges at work: they have to attend all the late-night drinking sessions and get adjusted to the work environment that is male-dominated.
What's worse, women also have to be responsible for housework and child rearing.
All these socil challenges women face are making it hard for them to give birth. It should change. In an aged society, which Korea is bound to be entering by 2025, labor force is critical for the nation's future. But the number of women engaged in economic activity is smaller in Korea than any other countries. Koreans need to change their attitudes towards women who work.

China's rapid economic growth and the neoliberalism have made Korea's economy grow while keeping the prices down. They, however, made the income gap grow and hampered many companies from hiring. In Korea, in particular, it was the conglomerates that have benefitted the most while the middle class didn't get much benefit. The collapse of middle class is a global problem which is getting more serious by the day. Unfortunately, there are no practical and effective policies in place that can improve the livelihood of middle class. And it seems that politicians are only focused on putting forward populist policies for the poor. To be sure, it's not is easy to conceive a good policy for the middle class. But the politicians should keep trying to find the best way to help the middle class lead a better life. Above all, they should encourage businesses to make more investments to create jobs. A few days ago, The British Financial Times cited "the middle class are losing their hope to live a better life than their parents'." It's in question who will be able to help the middle class get back on their feet.
