Essay & Composition Writing

Hi, could you check if I grammatical mistakes here?

Hi. I'm not a native English speaker, so I need some help from native speakers!
It's actually a summary.
Please let me know if I have any grammatical mistakes or made wrong word choices, and if you could please correct them! Thank you very much Emotion: big smile

Contrary to the general perception, highly intelligent children sometimes don't do well in school. If these gifted children are not understood, thus led to a wrong direction, it's very likely they will fail academically.
As a result, they don't get much recognition they deserve, and the stress that comes from all these worrisome eyes make them develop behavioral problems.

Top answer

Claire, I'd say "as much recognition as they deserve" or "the recognition they deserve". I'd also put and before thus. The rest seems fine to me.

I was worried if that doesn't make sense.
I wanted to say that if the gifted children are not understood by people like teachers.
So it makes sense?
