Some experts believe that when a country is already rich, any additional increase in economic wealth does not make its citizens any more satisfied. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

My essay:

Many nations have enjoyed economic strides nowadays. Therefore, some experts claim that if a country becomes prosperous, any wealth addition will fail to meet the needs of its citizens. In my opinion, I totally disagree with this view.

To embark upon, no matter how affluent the countries become, some of them have faced a huge gap between the wealthy class and underprivileged people in terms of pursuing higher education. To illustrate, many poor students in the US or England cannot enter colleges and universities on account of their financial background. As a result, their chances of landing a job become narrower as many jobs and professions require qualifications in some developed countries. Hence, individuals can be prone to drugs and crime. Should there be some improvements in economic growth, there will be some tuition waiver programs bridging the gap between people from different walks of life.

In addition, in rich countries, the citizens' desire goes far beyond their material life. Never before have people dreamed of some far-fetched ideas, for instance, traveling in some far-flung areas or curing some life-threatening diseases.Only when nations acquire additional wealth, can they have the chance to allocate their resources into research about cutting-edge inventions. When those technological advances become successful, it will meet the expectations of many people. For example, nowadays, many people have lived under obsession about cancer. It is predicted that additional economic development will shed light on more cures for these diseases, thus making people happier and more satisfied.

In conclusion, despite the fact that being already affluent can solve many existing problems, some governments are encouraged to strive for more economic developments to carry out many long-term plans to meet more expectations of their residents.
