The diagram below gives the information about the Hawaiian island chain in the centre of the Pacific Ocean. Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown.

The given diagram illustrates the Hawaiian island chain, which is located in the heart of the Pacific Ocean. Overall, the diagram depicts the formation of several active volcanoes in Hawaiian islands. It also shows how volcanic eruption occurs.

As can be seen from the diagram, the archipelago was constructed as a consequence of volcanic activity that began 80 million years ago on the solid dense rock bed.The eruption process originated approximately 2883 km deep down below the Earth's surface. Hot pot spume, which stayed unchanged during that stage ,transformed into magma spume when it reached the Pacific plate. The magma then rose to the surface, creating eruptions, and numerous eruptions built up the youngest volcanoes.

The Pacific tectonic plate moved in the North-West direction at an annual speed of 7-9 cm. As a result, young volcanoes developed and turned into old ones. The cycle repeated and several islands started to evolve, resulting in the formation of The Hawaiian Island chain.
