Hi! can anybody check this? I need help! Is this article O.K?

Buses- a dream or a nightmare?

Two hundred years ago people used to travel by horse drawn buses. Ten years later, they were replaced by steam buses powered by steam engines and fifty years after that, electric trolleybuses appeared. The first buses powered by internal combustion engines were introduced during the late 19th century. These vehicles were more sophisticated and surpassed the previous ones. Nowadays, it can’t be denied that the bus has become popular especially among students and commuters because of the benefits they get from it. However, it can be sometimes hardly criticized by these regular passengers.

On the one hand, many people benefit from the bus because it is cheap. They can cover long distances by paying an affordable price. Besides, those who choose buses avoid stressful and violent situations that usually arise out of road rage. For instance, strong arguments, tailgating and speeding. Believe it or not, another advantage is that buses are environmentally friendly. As they can transport a vast quantity of people there are less cars in the street. Therefore, it can be said that they contribute to the reduction of traffic jams and pollution.

On the other hand, all that glitters is not gold. Travelling by bus can also be an exciting nightmare. While it is true that buses are cheaper than other means of transports it can’t be denied that most of the times passengers travel uncomfortably, especially at the rush hours. Worst of all, bus- travelers are sometimes afraid of pickpockets who take advantage of the crowds to pick either purses or mobile phones from distracted passengers usually when there are too many people standing on the bus. Another disadvantage of buses is that they are completely unreliable. Many passengers hate it when they have to wait for long hours at the bus- stop risking their lives, especially at night.

All in all, despite the fact that sometimes regular users of buses get angry because of the disadvantages previously mentioned, it can’t be denied the fact that buses play an important role in society and are of greater importance for city dwellers. This road vehicle can be regarded as practical, useful or else annoying. However it would be hard to imagine living in a city without it.
