Hi

Yes or no? Am I allowed to do this? Can I use a colon after 'Mike'? Is it totally wrong to do so?

Hi, Mike:

I am writing to say that I found the meeting to be informative. ....

I heard that two commas (one after 'Hi' and one after 'Mike') is technically very correct. Agreed?

No colon in a friendly greeting. Use it for business and other formal letters. Two commas can be used, but few do nowadays.
