Hey if you know about the Israel-Arab conflict please read this!

Can you please read this and comment about it, its for school so I want to know what you think of the article. And also what grade you would give me Emotion: smile

Well, for those of you who have no idea what the conflict between these two nations is, don’t worry, I’ll tell you. Some time after World War 1, Great Britain controlled an Arab land known as Palestine, a place located in the Middle East. This place is now known as Israel. “Why did this happen?” you ask. Well, if you read on, you’ll soon find out.

After the Holocaust in World War 2, many Jews lost their homes and their jobs. Whilst some immigrated to America and other places, many Jews left for their old native land, Judea, which in the modern world was Palestine. Thousands of Jews immigrated to Palestine and such an entry of Jews destabilized the Muslim region.

This was how Israel looked when it was originally created in 1947. The pink places were Jewish states, the grey places where Arab states. You can see for yourself if you squint.

Since the British didn’t want all those Jews in their land, they began intercepting all the arriving Jews and sent them elsewhere. But the rest of the world, especially the United States insisted in creating an Israeli state. This was because they felt sympathy towards the Jews and all what they had suffered, but was also because everybody wanted all the Jew immigrants to go to some other place. Eventually the Israeli resistance groups with support from the world managed to “convince” the British into giving control to the United Nations over Palestine, which then divided the land into a Jewish and an Arab state. The Jews finally had a place they could call home.

However the neighboring Arab countries where not content with this. No not at all. They did not want to give up their Muslim territory to some “filthy” Jews. Immediately after the Jewish state of Israel was created their neighbors gave them a “friendly” welcome and attacked them. The attacks lasted for nine months.

By some miracle the Israelis managed to defeat the invaders. In fact they even took over of Arab territories during subsequent attacks. Most of the Palestinians had to retreat to neighboring countries.

So the Arabs where like: “They first come to our land and now they conquer some of our land? We cannot allow this to happen. We have to get rid of these Jews once and for all!” So as you may have guessed the conflict has gotten even worse. Sometime in the 1970’s Abdul Nasser, the president of Egypt, signed a peace treaty with Israel. And you know what thanks-for trying-to-peacefully-solve-the-conflict-so-we-can-live-in-peace they gave him? They killed him. Oh when will these people learn?

Come on! Israel is just a tiny speck of Jews in the middle of huge Muslim countries. These Muslims should be more considerate with the poor Jews who have suffered so much in the course of history. I hope they can realize this, so this absurd wars and massacres end once and for all and so the Israelis and the Arabs can find peace once and for all in the future.

Thanks!

Hola Gil mi amigo... Allow me to say to you that you sound just a little bit biased in your essay, in my opinion... But that's ok to take sides I guess ;-) It's too bad we cannot see the map you wanted to show to us.

And I believe Israel was officially created in 1948 (may the 14th if I recall correctly...).
