Hey , can anyone please double check it and correct it ..
Dear Professor,
I am writing to apply for my PhD in Department of Developmental Psychology at GBSC, with a subjective research on "Decision Making in Adolescence and Adult ". In October 2011 i graduated with a Masters degree in the Department of English Literature from Andhra University, INDIA. During the last year of my degree i attended few seminars on the " Influence of Decision Making in Adolescence and Adult". After i completed my Master's, i eventually got focused in research in Adolescence and Adults During my research i found different shades and reasons behind it. In the series of Case study i found, Adolescents and college-age individuals take more risks than children or adults do. In many respects, risk taking has become a product of a competition between the socio-emotional and cognitive-control (i.e., the ability to flexibly adapt one's behavior in the pursuit of an internal goal), and adolescence is a period in which the former abruptly becomes more assertive while the latter gains strength only gradually, over a longer period of time. The socio-emotional network is not in a state of constantly high activation during adolescence, though. Indeed, when the socio-emotional network is not highly activated for example, when individuals are not emotionally excited or are alone, the cognitive-control network is strong enough to impose regulatory control over impulsive and risky behavior, even in early adolescence.
On the other side i found as it also depends on gradual development of the brain, wherein adolescents are more likely to get into accidents of all kinds, fights and engage thyself in dangerous or risky behavior. However,in case of Adults, they "Think before they act" and modify their dangerous or inappropriate behaviors, thus there are many other things that carry on with it .
During my case study in 2011 and 2012 it happened to me to take many workshops (across the country) for the age groups between 15-25, where as there were few employees and few students. This particular topic made me think and experiment it on the students as well as on self.Due to which a curiosity/interest has developed in me to do a deep research or study on the respective subject/topic.
Hence i came across the GBSC details as the proper place for my research, therefore i would like to have the opportunity to develop its PhD programme in "Influence of Decision Making in Adolescence and Adult",for which i am sure that i have the skills, Knowledge and competence.
Thank you very much and i look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
xxx
