The branch library wasn't close to anything- not the gallery or the apartment or Buffy's school- and that was why she liked to go there. She never bumped into anyone she knew among the books; it was hers and hers alone, a place where she was simply "Joyce who loves Jane Austen" instead of "Joyce, Buffy's mom," or "Joyce, assistant manager" or "Joyce, Hank's wife."
