Here you are/There you are

Hello,

Which sentence would sound more natural as a response to A ?

A: Can you pass me the newspaper, please?

B: Yes, here/there you are.


"Here" would probably work better as A's right in front of B but for some reason I like "There you are".

"Here" should be used in this situation. "There" sounds rude. Note: in this situation you can also say "here/there you go.", but again, "there" sounds rude.
