Here vs. The Real World...
It's weird - the thing about online relationships vs. flesh-and-blood relationships. I think of all of you as friends, even though I've never actually met many of you in the flesh. I'm in the process of notifying friends and family, and it seems like a bit of a nonsequiter but not making mention seems like I'd be purposely leaving you all out.
My dad passed away yesterday morning. He was 70 years old and had been hospitalized since November of last year, most of that time with a tracheostemy so he was unable to speak. He was, however, able to communicate, right to the last - we spoke Tuesday morning, when I got in to town. He used an electronic keyboard and, toward the end, just a pad with letters written on it that he could point to, as the keys were too small for him to operate.
I'm in Michigan for a few days.
