Topic :

Many people believe that international tourism is a bad thing for their countries. What are the reasons? Solutions to change negative attitudes.

Essay:

In recent days, many arguments that foreign tourism is harmful for their own countries. While there is a strong case for this view, solution must be applied to resolve of the serious issues which have arisen.

In the one hand, there are two major reasons why international tourism is often considered as a cause of serious problems by local residents. First, since the majority of tourists are insensitive towards the feeling of local residents, they may have adverse impact on traditional custom and indigenous practices. For example, some Western holidaymaker visiting developing South Asian coutries may be rowdy or wear unsuitable clothes when they going to sanctuary such as pagoda or temple, which might have an undersiable influence on the local young people who copy the activities, even offend nations’ religion and tradition. Second, by littering beauty spot , some global tourists make native environment polluted. In Vietnam, some beautiful beaches such as Cua Lo and Sam Son sea water slowly become more and more dirty.

In the other hand, some measures should be taken by governments change nagative attitudes. To begin with, government hosts should explain the benefits of international tourism which contributes to the development of local residents.In fact, they not only spend money in shops and restaurants but also create jobs in service industries, and this aspect could be publicized Furthermore, the governments should increase the awareness among the foreign visitors through different media such as roadside billboards and advertisements, and tourists should be encouraged to get rid of rubbish correctly. This means the majority of foreigners travelling to the host are going to know that they cannot wear shorts to religional and tradiotional places or litter to public, which directly relieve negative local residents’attitudes about visitors from other coutries.

In conclusion, inhospitable feeling that the local residents have for international tourists is easliy for understadind. However, goverments should have some important measures to change this feeling.
