Here I go breaking all the rules

It's so easy to fall in love
It's so easy to fall in love
People tell me love's for fools
Here I go breaking all the rules

Hi,

The above is from the song "It's so easy to fall in love." Does "here I go breaking all the rules" mean "Now I am here to break all the rules?" That's, love's no more for fools only. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

Hi, Here I go doing something means, more or less, I am now starting to do something . In the song's context, it means 'I'm now starting to break all the rules that say I should be careful about falling in love'. Clive

Thanks, Clive.

Your explanation makes sense in the context, but I still don't know why "break all the rules" means "be careful about falling in love." Could you shed a bit more light? Thanks again in advance.

Hi,

It's the opposite. 'Breaking all the rules' about falling in love means that you are not being careful about faling in love.

Careful people don't break rules.
