her writer husband

"I was at a dinner party with a friend, whom I shall call Emma; her writer husband, Theodore; and several other writers."
The Brain That Changes Itself, Norman Doidge M.D.

The phrase 'her writer husband' seems unnatural to me.
It means "her husband, a writer," does it?

Please is such wording common, so we can say 'his teacher wife'?

Thank you
