Her pallbearer

Can one use:
1) He was her pallbearer.
instead of:
2) He was one of her pallbearers.

It is obvious that a person has more than a pallbearer.

Can one use:
3) He is her brother.
instead of:
4) He is one of her brothers.

In this case the chances of misunderstanding are higher. But I think one can use '3' even if she has more than one brother.
