2-The love of her has a good effect on him.

3-Jane's love has a good effect on him.
4-The love of Jane has a good effect on him.

In which case:
a-We are talking about the love she/Jane has for him.
in which case:
b-We are talking about the love he has for her/Jane.
and in which case:
c-The sentence is ambiguous.

Personally, I find sentence 4 ambiguous. To convey meaning b, I would prefer "Loving her/Loving Jane has a good effect on him."
