Hence vs Thus

Sometimes when I am writing something I feel as if I can use both thus and hence. What are the exact differences? Are they interchangeable?

Top answer

Nowadays people use them interchangeably, but "hence" could imply the future, while "thus" could refer to the past. I don't think people take that into account these days. Hence, feel free to use them interchangeably.
